What Is Kill to Death Ratio (KD)?

Kill to death ratio is calculated by dividing your total kills by your total deaths:

KD = Kills / Deaths

Example: 150 kills and 50 deaths give a KD of 3.00. That means you get 3 kills for every death on average.

If you have zero deaths, the ratio is undefined in pure math. In practice, most games and trackers treat that as a perfect score or show the kill count with no deaths.

How to Read Your KD

• Below 1.0 — more deaths than kills. Common when learning a new game or playing aggressively.
• Around 1.0 — roughly even. You trade kills and deaths at a similar rate.
• 1.5 to 2.0 — solid performance in many competitive titles.
• Above 2.0 — strong. You consistently come out ahead in fights.
• Very high (3.0+) — excellent, especially in high-level or ranked play.

What counts as a “good” KD depends on the game. In battle royales, placement and survival often matter more than pure KD. In arena shooters, KD is usually a clearer measure of aim and fight skill.
