What is a Minecraft UUID

A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is the permanent unique ID of a Minecraft Java Edition account. Unlike usernames, which can be changed, the UUID never changes. It is used by servers, plugins, mods, APIs and third-party services to identify players reliably.

Minecraft Player Finder lets you instantly convert a username to UUID (or the other way around) and view the current skin without installing anything or creating an account.

Username vs UUID

Username

The visible name shown in-game and on the profile (e.g. Notch). Usernames can be changed, so they are not a reliable long-term identifier.

UUID (with dashes)

Standard format: 069a79f4-44e9-4726-a5be-fca90e38aaf5. This is the most common way to store and display Minecraft UUIDs.

UUID without dashes

The same value without hyphens: 069a79f444e94726a5befca90e38aaf5. Many plugins, configs and APIs prefer this compact form.

How to Use Minecraft Player Finder

  1. Enter a Minecraft username (e.g. Notch) or a full/compact UUID.
  2. Click “Find” or press Enter.
  3. See the current username, both UUID formats and the player’s skin.
  4. Optionally open the profile on NameMC for more details.

The tool works instantly and requires no registration. If the player does not exist or the input is invalid, you will see a clear error message.

Why You Need a Minecraft Player Finder

  • Server administration — convert nicknames to UUIDs for whitelist, bans or permissions.
  • Plugin & mod development — get the correct UUID format required by most APIs.
  • Account verification — confirm a player’s current username and skin.
  • History checks — open the NameMC link to see name history and previous skins.
  • Convenience — no need to use multiple websites or command-line tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with Bedrock Edition?

This tool is designed for Java Edition accounts. Bedrock uses a different identification system (XUID) and is not supported by this endpoint.

Can I look up offline-mode players?

No. Only official Mojang/Microsoft accounts that exist in the online authentication system can be found.

Why is the skin not loading?

Sometimes the skin service is temporarily unavailable, or the player has a custom skin that takes a moment to appear. Refreshing the page or trying again usually helps.

Is it safe to use?

Yes. The tool only requests public data through playerdb.co. No passwords, emails or personal information are collected or stored.

Minecraft Player Finder helps you quickly obtain UUIDs, usernames and skins. Use the tool above when setting up servers, writing plugins or simply checking player information.
