8 Ball Pool Shot Calculator - Cut Angle, Bank Shot & Power Guide

8 Ball Pool Shot Calculator

Calculate cut angles, ghost-ball aim points, bank shot angles and recommended cue power for 8 Ball Pool. Practice geometry-based aiming without relying on overlays.

Good pool aim is mostly geometry. This calculator helps you estimate the contact point on the object ball, the cut angle for pocketing, simple bank angles off a cushion, and a rough power level by distance. Use it to train your eye, not as a live cheat.

Shot Calculator

Enter how full you want to hit the object ball (100% = straight on, 50% = half ball, etc.).

Simple mirror-system estimate. Angle in = angle out (ideal cushion, no spin).

Rough guide for Miniclip-style power bar (0-100%). Table length is relative.

How to Aim in 8 Ball Pool (Ghost Ball Method)

The most reliable aiming system for potting is the ghost ball method:

  1. Imagine a line from the pocket through the center of the object ball.
  2. Place an imaginary "ghost" ball on that line, touching the object ball.
  3. Aim the center of the cue ball at the center of the ghost ball.
  4. The contact point on the object ball is where the two balls touch.

Fullness tells you how much of the object ball you cover: 100% is dead straight, 50% is a half-ball hit, thinner hits create larger cut angles.

Cut Angle Reference

Fullness Approx. cut angle Use
100% (full) 0 deg Straight pot
75% ~14 deg Slight cut
50% (half) ~30 deg Common cut pot
25% ~48 deg Thin cut
12-15% ~60+ deg Very thin / risky

Bank Shots

For a single cushion with no spin, the mirror system works well: the angle the ball hits the cushion is roughly the angle it leaves. Aim as if the pocket is mirrored on the other side of the rail. Spin (especially running or reverse side) changes the rebound, so start without spin until the geometry feels natural.

Power Tips for 8 Ball Pool

  • Short pots often need less power than you think - overhitting is a common miss.
  • Long thin cuts usually need firmer power to stay on line.
  • After contact, cue ball path (tangent line) depends on cut angle and spin - plan position, not only the pot.
  • Practice the same shot at different powers in free practice / training tables.

Important Notes

  • This is an educational geometry tool. It does not overlay the live game or inject into the client.
  • Using third-party aim bots or overlays that interact with the game can violate Miniclip Terms of Service and risk bans.
  • Real tables have slight differences in cushion response, ball friction and aim assist guidelines - always confirm by feel in-game.
